Bartolomeu Dias, the Portuguese explorer, was the first European to reach the Cape on 12 March 1488 and named it Cape of Storms. At a later date, John II of Portugal renamed it Cape of Good Hope. However on May 29th 1500, Bartolomeu Dias perished in a storm off the coast of the newly named Cape of Good Hope. His ship was among the four that sank in that storm.
The southern most tip is Cape Agulhas and that is where the warm Agulhas current meets the cold Benguela current.
It was a slow scenic drive along the coast.
For sailors, the Coast can be threatening, but the view for the land is serene.
The sandy beaches are inviting

to vineyards.

I slowly made my way back to Cape Town with Lions head next to Table Mountain making its appearance.
The table cloth is slowly covering Table Mountain and it was time to leave South Africa.
