Far from Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds" but within walking distance from the loft in False Creek, is the Olympic Plaza's version of "The Birds". Myfanwy MacLeod's sparrows overlook the bustling plaza, which was the hub of the Athlete's Village during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
The giant 4.5-metre birds keep an eye out for crumbs from Terra Food bakery, as they sit across from each other on the plaza, which has now become the heart of "The Village", a favourite spot for a cyclist, walkers, strollers, joggers, coffee lovers and bird watchers. There are also two pubs close by, one in the historic Salt Building. Definitely not recommended for the birds.
